Mitsunobu Reactions

Mitsunobu reactions

Mitsunobu reactions transform primary and secondary alcohols into a variety of functional groups, such as esters, ethers, thioethers and several other compounds.

The intramolecular variant of the reaction affords various rings such as aziridines, lactones and lactams, etc.

The key reagents of Mitsunobu reactions are azodicarboxylic acid derivatives that we produce in ton quantities, either for our custom synthesis services, or as commercial reagents.

Supply of azodicarboxylic acid derivatives

The most common Mitsunobu reagents are Diethylazocarboxylate (DEAD) and Diisopropylazodicarboxylate (DIAD), but several other azodicarboxylic acid derivatives have been developed as alternatives to DEAD and DIAD and are also produced by Novasep:

Diethylazocarboxylate, DEAD

Diisopropylazodicarboxylate, DIAD

Dibenzyl azodicarboxylate, DBAD

Azodicarbonyldipiperidide ADDP

N,N,N´,N´-Tetramethylazodicarbonamide, TMAD

Tetraisopropylazodicarboxamide, TIPA
